The
landscape plan took everything outside the drip line of the house into
consideration. The property was divided into three primary spaces:
The
Public Space (the front): An important element in the design is deciding how
to drive a car into and out of the garage easily. A welcoming walkway system
to the front door is equally important. My goal is to create an easy to use
and friendly approach to the house.
The
Private Space (the back): Te outdoor space most enjoyed by the homeowner
will be the back garden. This is the oasis to come home to, to de-stress and
unwind. The pool area is the focal accent of the back garden, located to be
sociable and easily accessed from the covered outdoor patio of the house.
The
Sides: On the master bedroom side of the house, a row of evergreens between
the properties which will eventually enclose the property and add an element
of privacy for the pool and the bedroom suite.
The
breakfast nook side of the house offers great views of the subdivision’s
common areas on the side and back property lines. A ribbon of plantings on
the slope offers a foreground of the view beyond, and an additional shade
tree frames the view from the pool to the large open space in the back.
A
Note on Plantings: Colorful plantings accentuate the architecture, and when
mature, will maintain the proper scale with the architecture. All planted
areas are designed to maximize the beauty of each space while considering
other aspects such as views, enclosures and scale.
